Follow the instructions below to find a specific case in the Legal Search form in LexisNexis Academic.

A common assignment is to research the major news that occurred on your birthday. You can easily do this on the power search form.

  1. Click "Show" (in the same spot as "hide" on the above picture) to display the Document Section boxes.
  2. Select DATE from the Section drop-down box.
  3. Type the equal sign and any date you'd like in the terms box. In this case, "=8/2/1982"
  4. Click the link to add this date to your search.
  5. Click the red OK-Continue button to find your results.

You can also use this function to search all articles before or after a certain date. Simply replace the equal sign with a greater than/less than sign. For example, if you wanted to search for all articles before 8/2/1982, you would type "<8/2/1982" in the Terms box.
