Click the icon above to hear the very first LexisNexis Academic Podcast. The first podcast is an interview of LexisNexis Products Trainer and Librarian, Andrea Sevetson, by Academic Product Lead, Jennifer Matheny. Andrea discusses her previous library jobs, hidden gems in LexisNexis Academic, and her favorite ways to use LexisNexis for research. We are hoping to make these podcasts a monthly offering. They will all include interviews with librarians, teaching faculty members, and LexisNexis staff members on new and interesting ways to use the products. In future podcasts, Jennifer Matheny will also be answering questions from her inbox. If you have a question that you'd like answered on the next podcast, e-mail jennifer.matheny@lexisnexis.com. Our second LexisNexis Academic Podcast is all about LexisNexis Statistical Datasets! LexisNexis Director of Statistical, Dan Coyle, has a chat with the President and CEO of Conquest Systems, Richard Landry. Richard's company, Conquest, is behind the development of LexisNexis Statistical DataSets. They talk about Richard's background, the evolution of the product, new functionality, and how a data set becomes a LexisNexis Statistical DataSet. The March software release of DataSets is coming up! It includes improved charts, the ability to run statistical mathematical functions, and aesthetic changes as a result of usability studies. The new product, which only launched seven months ago, is extremely powerful and worth a look!

The third podcast is up and ready to go! This month's special guest is Cathy Jervey, the Director of Market Planning for Congressional and Historical Material here at LexisNexis. Jennifer Matheny interviews her about the Congressional Interdisciplinary Guides here on the wiki and the amazing variety of subjects you can research in LexisNexis Congressional. Cathy talks about the future of these guides - she is hoping to make some video guides to this content sometime in the future. She reads some exerpts from eye-witness accounts in LexisNexis Congressional and drives home the point that LN Congressional is more than just a political science/public policy database. LexisNexis Academic has finally made it to Facebook - and it's all thanks to the person we interviewed in Podcast #4, Marina Azariah-Ilishaev. Marina is a marketing manager for LexisNexis. If you've ever received a postcard or mailer from us, chances are, Marina was behind it! In our podcast, Marina talks about some very hot topics. First, she goes into how to promote and market your academic library to increase student usage. Next, Marina shares some great knowledge about branding. She also talks about social networking tools - which ones work, which ones will give you the most return for your least amout of effort, and how not to be too personal. Alistair Morrison interviews our new Vice President of LexisNexis Academic & Library Solutions, Laura Salmon. Laura gives a great interview where she talks about the future of LexisNexis in the Academic market and how far we've come since our early days of microform and microfiche. She speaks about wanting to help libraries "unlock their content" to make it more accessible to their users. She also explains that LexisNexis is trying to do the same thing by moving products into digital media. Jennifer Matheny also gives an introduction with updates about the enhancements on LexisNexis Academic including a beta release in September and a full release in December. Listen for more details!
