Did you know that you can find the most current 2008 Summer Olympics news in LexisNexis Academic? The best way to search for Olympics news in LexisNexis Academic is to use the index. First, click on the Power Search form and select "Major World Publications" from the sources drop-down box. Then, select your index terms. Search the index to find subject terms such as "Olympics" and "Summer Olympics". You may want to add the geographical term "Beijing, China". Besides the Olympic games themselves, you may also be interested in researching the political controversies surrounding the games. Add the "Editorials & Opinions" term, as well as the "Civil Rights" and "Censhorship" subject terms to your search to find out more.

Did you know that you can search Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia and other selected reference materials in LexisNexis Academic? Click on the Sources tab and then the yellow "Reference" folder below. After that, click the "Encyclopedias & Almanacs" folder. From here, you can choose to search through Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia, The Almanac of American Politics, World Almanac and Book of Facts, The World Almanac of the U.S.A., or the World Almanac of U.S. Politics. If your institution has a subscription to LexisNexis Academic and your computer has been authenticated through the library portal, click the links above to search directly through one of these valuable reference sources.

Did you know that you can now use people index terms to narrow your search in LexisNexis Academic? There is now a People Index inside LexisNexis Academic. Use these people terms to find all information about a specific person in LexisNexis Academic. On the PowerSearch form, click the "Add keywords (Index Terms) to your search" link shown below the search box. A pop-up box will appear. Type a person's name in the search box, such as Barack Obama, and click the find button. Select the "Obama, Barack" index term from the list and click the red OK-Add to search button. Persons included in the LexisNexis People Index are also highlighted in articles inside LexisNexis Academic. You will notice that these names appear hyperlinked in documents. Click on the link to run a search for recent articles that include information about this person.

Did you know that you can find a transcript of George Carlin's Supreme Court testimony from 1978 in LexisNexis Academic? In the case of the FCC V. Pacifica Foundation, George Carlin spoke about his monologue "Seven Dirty Words" that was broadcast over a New York radio station in 1973. To find this case and read the transcript, click the Legal tab. Then, click "Federal & State Cases" on the left nav bar. Type the string "Seven dirty words" AND "George Carlin" in the search box. Select "U.S. Supreme Court Cases, Lawyers Edition" from the source drop-down box. Click the red search button. For an easier way, type in the citation number of this case: 438 U.S. 726.

Did you know that Julia Roberts has testified before Congress? Use the LexisNexis Congressional Hearings Digital Collection to read her testimony. In the Advanced Search form of LexisNexis Congressional, check only "Hearings" in the “Search within” section. In the “Enter search terms” section, select “Witness” from the first drop down menu. Enter "Julia" and "Roberts" in the First and Last Name boxes. To ensure results reflecting the actress Julia Roberts, select “Witness affiliation” from the second drop down menu and enter "Actress" in the second text field.
